I've heard people say, and some were Christians, that if people are not convicted by there conscience then whatever it is that they are doing is OK. Unfortunately that is not an accurate statement for Christians and cannot be used if we are truly going to be a follower of Christ. 1 Timothy 4: 1 & 2 says this following statement: 1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
We as Christians are led by the spirit of God and are chastened by the word of God. We cannot depend on our conscience to tell us when we are in the wrong. If we are reading the word of God like we are supposed to then we will know when we are doing wrong. Our consciences, that is part of the mind, is often easily influenced or open to the power of suggestion and it seems that the thing at that moment is right; however, it is not right and we end up suffering from the results of our decision based on our conscience.
Don't be led by your conscience or your feelings but be led by the Spirit of God.
