We have read throughout scripture to have a consistent life of prayer, but yet #Believers have fallen into a state of only praying out of need or "desperation/convenience". This is not what the Father desires from us. To simply put it, prayer is our time to talk to the #Father and yes, even share our concerns but we should never complain. Here's why, complaining is filled with negativity and does not show forth #faith. #Hebrews116 - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him.
Looking at the children of Israel, who often complained resulted in God becoming angry with them as it showed a lack of faith on their part. In reflecting upon #Psalms78, here we read the children of Israel testing God by complaining about their condition. And so it is with us today, we complain when we have to "go through" hardships, #testing, #trial, or #tribulation, when God does not give us what we've prayed for or what we think we deserve or should have.
In our time of prayer, we should be seeking God's face and not what's in His hands. Meaning if our only purpose for praying is to receive "blessings", then how shall we hear what His thoughts are for us? In prayer, we receive instruction and direction. It is through instruction and direction that we can also receive what we are in need of or even desire.
Let us change the way we pray and reason for praying. It is not different with a child and a parent. Imagine your child only talks to you when they need money, what type of relationship would that be? The line of communication would be limited only to their availability. The Father is always available to have a conversation with us. Don't see prayer as cumbersome or that you're being forced to talk with #God. He delights in talking with you. Yes, He's interested in hearing what's going with you but be sure not to make it a time only about you and filled with complaints. #Philippians46 - Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by #prayer and #supplication, with #thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; This scripture is the perfect example of how we are to come before God. He takes NO delight in complaints.
When we pray according to the Word of God, it displays we have created a life of prayer and not a prayer of convenience.
