How many of us will honestly say that although they initially rejected a time of suffering but having gone through it you came out stronger in your faith? Why? Because what you thought you didn't have to go through it, proved you did.
1 Peter 4:12 (1 Corinthians 3:13, 1 Peter 1:7) - Beloved, do not think it strange (unusual or surprising in a way that is unsettling or hard to understand) concerning the fiery (to purify or bring purification) trial (a formal examination of evidence before a judge...a test of the performance, qualities, or suitability of someone or something) which is to try (a putting to proof) you, as though some strange (unaccustomed to or unfamiliar with) thing happened to you; However, let us understand that the fiery darts from Satan are not for the sake of purification but for destruction.
In our time of meditation, let us reflect on the above scripture as a point of encouragement and strength.
We have countless scripture telling the Believer what is to be expected as a child of God concerning trials, tests, etc. Many take their time of suffering, going through, trial, test, or tribulation personal but it is in fact spiritual. Not all suffering comes from Satan (Hebrew - adversary).
You see, we must be tried or put through the fire just like gold because in it brings out impurities, flaws, and weaknesses. Each time impurities or flaws or weaknesses are found in the gold, it is put back into the fire as many times as needed. However, in doing this it never affects the golds ability to form into an object. A soldier is tested of their ability by going through basic training to root out any weaknesses or fears; because in a time of battle if a person has fears or weaknesses it can definitely cause unnecessary casualties. If the soldier fails basic training they are dismissed from being eligible to serve. But we have been armed and equipped (Ephesians 6:11) with the Word of God to ensure our eligibility to serve in the army of the Lord.
Don't be afraid to go through the fire. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego all went through their fiery experience, why shouldn't we? Our suffering is not punishment. We are expected to suffer for the sake of the Gospel. Our time of trial or testing is to build our faith in God.
When we truly understand the nature of fire spiritually, their is nothing to fear. Far too many Believers are trying to war in the spirit without going through their fiery trial. Why is this needed? It's not enough to put on armor and just come out swinging but faith is what will get us through all things. Some are fighting and have no real faith but hoping for the best. Each fiery trial tests our faith to determine our eligibility for warfare. Spiritual warfare is real and the demonic kingdom is playing for keeps. It is part of our requirement as a Believer to have at least one fiery trial. Do you know that weaknesses and fears are weights? This is why scripture also tells us in James 1:21 to ...lay aside (put off, get rid of) every weight... Release the fear of not wanting to experience a fiery trial, which is to strengthen your faith.
May we all embrace our fiery trials as it is fitting and pleasing to the Father that our faith be made strong and unshakable.
